The Dunbar P3 Polypenco Pipes feature fully combed and beaded drones with modern drone tops, with imitation ivory projecting mounts and ferrules. Dunbar was one of the first pipe makers to experiment with making pipes from high-grade polypenco plastic, and it has proven to be a less expensive option than African Blackwood as well as being very durable (an excellent choice for younger pipers). Their tone is excellent but not quite as "warm" as that of Dunbar's Blackwood pipes, comparing well with many bagpipes made from traditional woods such as African Blackwood, Caribbean Cocus, and Cocobolo. They make a good choice for anyone starting out or on a budget, or who wants an extra pipe to play when weather conditions are very bad.
