This tutor book introduces the student to all of the basic rhythms and embellishments used on the bagpipe, however its coverage of them is not as complete as in some of the other tutor books. Its biggest strength is the tunes section, which includes a number of tunes that can be hard to find, including mostly Irish but with a few Scottish tunes. The tunes in the book include old favorites such as "Wrap the Green Flag Round Me Boys", "The Boys of Wexford", "Wearing of the Green", "Eileen Aroon", "MacKay's Farewell to the 71st", etc.
